Safety
Some of this is not boredom.
This page is short on purpose. If you recognise yourself on it, act on it rather than reading on.
Now
- If you are thinking about harming yourself, or feel unable to go on, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line immediately.
- The same if the feeling is that there is no point to anything, or that you feel nothing at all. That is not flatness and this site will not treat it as such.
- Chest pain, breathing difficulty, collapse or a sudden unexplained physical change: emergency services.
- Severe alcohol withdrawal — seizures, hallucinations, severe confusion, frightening shaking: emergency care now.
A doctor, not a website
- Flatness that has lasted weeks rather than days.
- Losing interest in things you used to want.
- Sleep or appetite gone.
- Not leaving the house, or not seeing anyone.
All of those can look like boredom and none of them is fixed by finding something to do. Nothing on this site tells you what they mean, and the AI guide will not either. Get it looked at properly.
Specialist help, without judgement
- Gambling you cannot stop, or money going on it.
- Drinking or drug use that has become how the evening gets filled.
- Pornography, gaming or any use that is out of your control.
- Chasing a feeling through speed, fights or deliberately dangerous situations.
None of that is beneath you and none of it gets a lecture here. It does need somebody qualified rather than a conversation about appetite. A free specialist service exists for each of them in most countries, and a doctor is a reasonable first stop for any of it.
